Motorcycle action from the No Limits Racing club
this weekend (23-24 March) will kick-start the 2019 motorsport
season at Donington Park, which features more major events than
ever before.
New additions this year include well-received extra rounds of the
Bennetts British Superbike Championship and the British GT and BRDC
British F3 Championships, meaning both will visit the circuit twice
this season.
As well as these additions, race fans will notice more key changes
to the venue, which continues to undergo improvements under
MotorSport Vision (MSV) operation. A new main public entrance to
the paddock and improved entry to the Fogarty Esses spectator area
are the main focal points, while many other detail changes will
ensure Donington continues to flourish for spectators, track users
and officials.
Racing takes place on every weekend from now until the end of
October, except for the middle weekend in June when the massive
Download Festival takes over the venue with tens of thousands of
rock fans expected once more.
The major international highlight again comes courtesy of the only
UK round of the World Superbike Championship on a new summer date
(5-7 July), with some of the world's top motorcycle racers set to
compete three times over the course of the weekend courtesy of a
much-improved event format.
The first major event of the year comes on the final weekend of
April (27/28) with the annual visit of the Kwik Fit British Touring
Car Championship, which is swiftly followed by the ever-popular
Donington Historic Festival on 3-5 May. Another historic highlight
is the return of the Masters Race Weekend on 8-9 June, while retro
bikes also have a dedicated event courtesy of the Donington Classic
Motorcycle Festival on 3-4 August.
The first visit of the year from the Bennetts British Superbike
Championship comes on 24-26 May, returning to the National Circuit
after a long absence with a special triple-header race format,
while its second visit, this time on the Grand Prix circuit, takes
place during the crucial 'Showdown' phase on 4-6
October.
British GT and BRDC British F3's first visit comes on 22-23 June,
while the traditional 'Donington Decider' will return on 14-15
September, with champions for both series likely to be
settled.
One of the major family highlights, the all-things-trucking
celebration of Convoy in the Park, returns for a third year on
10-11 August, and will again feature multiple races from the
British Truck Racing Association Championship, as well as
gargantuan displays and entertainment areas around the venue.
Between all this are numerous national-level events for cars and
motorcycles, as well as a number of car shows during the
summer.
